this day

by Jason Alan

she penned glorious fiction

upon my heart

and passed it off as truth

symphonies of deception

fueled the folly

the ignorance of youth

she told me

what I wanted to hear

and I wanted to believe

she knew herself

and did not think well enough

to allow my love received

I wish no ill will upon her

and so glad

I did not stay

for I might not have

the woman I love

the one I hold this day
