You Are Not Free

by Jason Alan

You are not free.

Not until everyone has the same basic rights, regardless of marital status, sex, race, age, religion, sexual orientation or how much money you have. Same sex marriage is not about whether homosexuals can have ceremonies, exchange rings and be together, it’s about having the same rights. Marriage should not be about paying the government even one nickel to grant you extra rights, but unfortunately that is part of it, so everyone should have equal access.

You are not free.

Not while laws are in place that lock up nonviolent people among rapists and murderers so that businesses and governments can make money from privately owned prisons.

You are not free.

Until no property is excluded from paying taxes. That means you, churches. If we have to pay, you have to pay.

You are not free.

Not until hemp production is reinstated, and when you can legally grow cannabis in your back yard. Even your front yard, for that matter. Even if a baby ate some of it, the child would not be harmed. Understand the facts, don’t believe the lies.

You are not free.

Not until every federal, state and local authority and employee is held to the same standards of law. (I would provide a link for an example of a politician clearly being above the law, but seriously, I wouldn’t even know where to begin.)

You are not free.

Not until every murder case is treated as if it had happened to the president. No excuses about not enough manpower or funds. If agents have the time to raid medical marijuana establishments and bust old men jerking off in adult theaters, they certainly have time to investigate REAL crimes.

You are not free until everyone is free. Free to live their lives on their own terms, free from governments attempting (and all too often succeeding) to control and manipulate every single aspect of our lives with fear and deception, especially when the only real reason they do so is to further their insatiable lust for money and power.

You are not free. Government in its current state is not your friend, nor does it care about you or your safety. It’s the police and the firemen and the medical personnel who protect you, not the politicians. Our ‘leaders’ hide away safely in their mansions and expensive hotels, doing blow and banging hookers while telling us we cannot do the same. If we neither do something nor say something about this horrible mismanagement and blatant lack of accountability, we are part of the problem.

We are not free.
