I want to see poets do more

extract from the language

dig deep

do not

do not

merely scrape words from conscious

onto words from subconscious

and expect us to chop it up

into fine powder

and snort it with our minds.

we expect somehting. typos…

as poetry readers.

we expect greatness from our poets

not oh, i love you

be with me

blah blah blah.

give us something. no typo…

and by giving us something

you give to the world

you create the matter

that contributes.

do not just give us the words

we want the emotions

wrapped in them

lit with the fires of experience.

that, we will gladly fill our lungs with.
